A Balanced Backup Solution
PC to PC - Chances are, you already have a network in your system. Ask your tech to share a drive on a different department’s pc, install SecondCopy and synchronize the files from your server to that other department’s PC. This can also serve as having an acting “Secondary Server” if you map that department’s PC with a drive letter on the other pc’s.
Cloud - I use Dropbox. Many Technology consultants stay away and always recommend other cloud solutions. For me and my clients, I use what works, and proves to be efficient, trustworthy & secure. When ever I’ve had an issue with Dropbox it’s never failed me. The worst thing that ever happened to me is that I had a conflicting file, so it created 2 versions, date and time stamped so that I can determine which is the file I needed. The technological friendliness in Apple & Android are fantastic.
USB - Everyone uses an USB drive as a backup. The truth is, USB drives tend to crash more than internal drives. You should also be cautioned, not many, but some use proprietary formatting schemes. Regardless, they can be used as your “offsite backup drive”. The attitude should be, there is a hurricane coming, let me stick my drive in my pocket and leave with it. This can be achieved by using SecondCopy to sync your files from your server to this external unit.
